Walking Tour of Sarona – The German Templar colony in Tel Aviv – Every Friday at 13:00 (minimum 6 people)
At the heart of modern Tel Aviv Lie the beautiful German Colony of Sarona, established by Templars in the Land of Israel in 1871.
We’ll walk around the unique Templar-style houses built by the Germans who established the colony, bringing with them the rural traditions of Europe.
We’ll hear about the artisans who taught the locals how to work and incorporate innovation in every aspect of day to day life, and about their business entrepreneur.
we’ll learn about the transition of the compound from the Templars to the hands of the British Mandate and later the young Israeli state – Becoming the headquarters of the IDF.
We’ll hear about the antenna that received and transmitted top-secret communications, the winery, and tell the unbelievable story of the birth of the Israeli Force at the winery cellar.
We’ll visit the Beit Habad (Olive Press) and see how equipment over a century old is still functioning. we’ll learn about the restoration and preservation process of the buildings, how the trees were kept and shops and restaurants opened, and will end our tour at the vibrant, newly opened food market in Sarona.
Tour duration – 2 hours.
